Gotten a hold of a Land Search Title (Which allows you to see who is the current owner of the home, and discloses information about mortgages, restrictive coventants, easements, etc.)
Discovered what the property taxes are on this property.
Inquired about a warranty.
Determined which items in the house are fixtures (Yours when you buy) and which are chattels (Items the current owner takes with him.)
Inquired about permits used if any renovations or alterations had been done to the property (If there were no permits, the work could have been done by an unlicensed worker and could cause problems in the future.)

Decided on the type of community I would like to live in.

The Offer (Almost done the home buying checklist!)
Hired a lawyer, notary public, or Real Estate Licensee (Realtor) to craft, or proofread my offer to help protect myself legally.
Signed the offer, and the seller has signed the offer as well.
Completing The Purchase
Hired a lawyer or notary public to prepare documents required to transfer legal ownership of my new house.
